It is true that your clothes reflect your personality but it is also not true that your clothes define who you are. It simply reflects your taste and sense of style rather than the ‘good’ and ‘bad’ in you. Nothing and nothing should stereotype us. This story is about traditional Banarasi weaves going badass and comfortably casual. Deserving a tenfold audience, it signifies a national identity and has seeped through a wider age group. A sari clad woman need not feel demure and arguably suits our modern day lifestyle as well. Being the national outfit for us, a sari doesn’t make a person sundar and sushil. Most of us look at saris as old fashioned or occasion wear but this garment was meant to be adapted. And BlabberCat wore the best quality Banarasi weaves by Coloroso in a regular day and not in very predictable situations, but still veritable.
All the saris are handcrafted Banarasi saris with Sona Rupa Zari in kana fabric; except our showstopper look (last) is tussar.
Risque and roll
Vintage and retro comes naturally with saris. Our first look, a contrast to our other styles, takes this silver and grey sari to a formal celebratory evening. The technique of weaving polka dots revisits the art deco era and adds to the luminosity. The bourgeois silk transformed into a fabric of fantasy and fun. This look depicts an eye for the past but also projected towards the future.
Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind
A non-judgemental garment, the sari is not restricted to height, size or features. Brighten up and be unapologetic about celebrating what we call a race. Go bold in millennial pink. The palette of pink is back after a long time and it's here to stay this new year. Let not this nine yard stop you from running scot-free of all worldly opinions. In the pic: neckpiece by Amrapali chosen to replicate the tribal temple pattern on the sari.
Metal is serene in city dream
It's true that denims, boddy hugging tights or blazers can become too uncomfortable during work considering our long commute, work hours and the importance of looking well-dressed. We styled this royal blue sari with blue bird pattern subtly spread throughout the garment, with a jacket and metalic aviators. It's a saying that half the deal is won if you dress to kill at a meeting.
Belle of Banarasi
Party aint ever over with these regal falls romanticising everything we do; from pearl perfection to cheesy romance. Feel free to divest yourself of all that glitters and be you. Eat a lot, laugh a lot and still build the legacy the world will remember you for. Coloroso assembles hand-selected saris that make for a great story lived by great women.
