The massive hall was a paragon of magnificence and the dangling chandelier lights enhanced the nineteenth century, traditional British portrayal; The Marble Room was transcendently decorated to welcome the food-lovers in the city for a little taste of Christmas from the 19th-26th December – written Anushree Kanoi
Chef Shaun Kenworthy and The Kenilworth Hotel collaborated to organise a gourmet pop-up restaurant and the generous lavish of piquant food, cocktails and wine was a juicy cherry topping the cake of Christmas cheer. With gobs of delicious food in its stomach and an opportunity to have the gracious company of Sous Chef Khemraj Bhatt, BlabberCat basked in the generous spirit of Yuletide.
BlabberCat licked her paws after:
Impeccably cooked lasagne sheets, rolled with a well-textured filling of cheese and exotic vegetables, sitting on a bed of delicious gravy and accompanied with sour cream – the ricotta, olive and red capsicum rotola, caponata, rocket and parmesan was a demiurgic addition to the menu, and has left us yearning for more.
If it hadn’t been for Chef Bhatt’s advance warning, I would have blamed the divinity of the taste of the whiskey lemon flummery strawberries and scotch shortbread for my intoxicated state. Perfectly blended cream and liquor, topped with semi crushed strawberries and shortbread cookies, one cannot help but eat every spoonful of this lethal dessert that leaves you a little light-headed the end of it.
The pop-up was a fiesta for the sweet-toothed, and another dessert that made it the list was the chocolate and hazelnut pot, cream and cookies. Layers of crumbly cookies, sandwiched between fresh cream and thickly coated with dark chocolate ganache and a dash of roasted hazelnut flavour – there was rich gooey chocolatey heaven in each bite.
